About Us
We would like to be the link between the eater (consumer) and the farmer, connecting the eater and the farmer and growing appreciation and value for the effort to produce safe and healthy food.
How do we choose our suppliers?
I have spoken to many farmers over the last years and feel that we – the eater – have lost all connection to the people who are responsible for our food. We just take it for granted that our food is on the shelf at the store all the time.
In most cases the connection and with it the responsibility has been lost both ways. The famer is just meant to produce no matter what. If it is a good year and he has a bumper crop the price drops, if it is a bad year tough luck for the local farmer we will get it from somewhere else.
Not many farmers have a chance to even think about being responsible for our food, a lot of them are just going from year to year and debt to debt.
The farmers we choose to supply Scrupulicious Farming are the ones who have turned away from conventional methods and taken up the responsibility of our food for our better health. The ones who have chosen not to use chemical pesticides on their products because they know the effects of these poisons on you and our beautiful planet. Farmers who have changed their farming systems not to be one of the farmers who contribute to cancer, diabetes, birth defects, allergies and other disorders of the nervous, neurological, behavioural, hormone, reproductive, endocrine and immune system. Farmers who have made a conscious decision for our health.
Not only do we try the products we also visit the farms and get to know the farmers and their background and how and why they came to farming the way they do. We are aware that farming naturally without chemicals, GMO and artificial methods and inputs does limit availability of a 100% perfect product all year round. Seasonal conditions may mean that there is no or less product ready for the market at certain times of the year and that sometimes the product may not meet the standard of unnatural farming products.
Working with the farmers gives us insight to upcoming low supply and to overcome this time we will freeze fresh product before we get to the low supply period.
We want to work with the farmers and give them the freedom to get their produce ready for market naturally without unrealistic deadlines, only this way can we get the best quality out of the product.
